Will these work to highlight areas that have been colored?

i haven't tried this but I don't think they would be. They are aceayer based marker. They are mainly ment for coloring or high lighting permanent type ink. Maybe someone can better answer this for you.

Does this have a firm tip like Zebra or Tombow brush pens?

It does. but, it is not like a sharpie where you kind of poke the paper. This works just lie a regular brush. Light, easy strokes. The tip to these is WWWAAAAAAAAYYYY Firmer than Copic markers. Also, they are disposable so when they run out you just toss 'em! I prefer these to Copics. The tip is way firmer and they last long for disposable markers!
