Let's make no mistake that this is going to stop a determined break-open attempt, because it isn't... even with a sturdy travel-padlock, the thief is going to go through the zip fabric not the hard casing. A sturdy pair of scissors, or a sharp Stanly knife is going to separate the zipper material from the case or the zip itself quite quickly, despite it being made of relatively sturdy nylon material... that's not to say the whole thing is poor quality, because it's actually quite well-made and sturdy.No, security-wise, this small hard (ish) case was designed to stop determined nosey parkers, not thieves... a small travel/suitcase padlock (not supplied) will complete that task very nicely... The main purpose of the hard outer casing, is more engineered to offer some protection for the items inside, should they be a bit delicate... I use mine to store a couple of external 2.5" computer hard disk drives (and their assorted cables) that I use for computer backups. I also have a few USB sticks in there that contain backups of photo albums etc... locked with a suitcase padlock, this little hard case is perfect for that kind of role.It keeps the contents safe from casual accidental damage, and is secure enough, that the kids can't swan-off with some of my drives or USB sticks to stick into their games consoles or wipe to store video files on etc.If you need something for little tasks like that, this item is absolutely perfect.The travel padlock I use is available by searching Amazon for B00BTO1P1E - but any small padlock or suitcase lock will do.
