Will it hold tall pens?

My daughter uses it for school. She has 2 small notepads, pencil erasers, two pens and full size color pencils in hers.

It’s canvas, so however you typically wash canvas

Can this be used for makeup brushes?

The height of this pencil case is 7.5 inches, you can put makeup brushes below 7.5 inches.

Would this item fit in a car's cupholder?

it would depend on the size of the cupholder. my case is 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches thick. it squishes a bit but looks like it would require about 3 Inches in diameter at that. I hope this helps. It's a darling case, clever design and it does indeed stand on it''s own. I have 20 micron ink pens and lt looks like it would hold another 6.
