Rabbit Wine Chilling Carafe (Black)

Simple sleek design, and it really does a great job of chilling a bottle full of wine.Cleaning is pretty easy, though the red rubber sleeve is a bit tough if you want to pull it all the way off. That's not really needed, so I tend to leave it on. Simply roll the top portion back to remove the inner ice carrying cylinder.

This was purchased to replace a broken one that had been given as a gift. This carafe works great. It chills the white wine within a few minutes and keeps it chilled for a couple of hours....time enough to finish the bottle. It holds a full bottle of white wine. Great for gift or your own use.

Overall, this is pretty good, but it could be improved.Firstly, it seems like you need to completely pack the reservoir with ice. I usually add some salt too, for good measure.Secondly, the more you pour, the less liquid comes in contact with the cooled surface, rendering it far less effective.Thirdly, the silicone cover will trap water, so you really have to make sure that everything is well dried before reassembling after washing.It does a pretty decent job of (fairly) quickly chilling a white wine or other beverage, but I don't think it's excellent.

Used this product twice and was very pleased with the concept. Kept white wine chilled. After the second use,although we never banged or dropped the carafe,we noticed cracks.In Amazon reviews,2 people indicated they broke carafe while assembling.Assembly was so simple I couldn't understand how it broke. I now believe the product is defective,it is too fragile. Amazon was gracious enough to give us a refund.I e-mailed Mterokane explaining the situation and asking if they would sell me just a carafe.Their reply was strange but basicly "NO".

I noticed this product advertised in the New Yorker and several other publications; I am familiar with Rabbit wine accessories and needing a way to keep white wines at a proper serving temperature I ordered the Metrokate wine chiller/carafe knowing it would be top quality.I was right - we drink wine with every evening meal and trying to keep whites cool is always a hassle - the Metrokane Chiller Carafe does a perfect job - no jostling with an ice bucket or diluting the wine with ice cubes as some people do. It is also useful with some sparkling reds.Several friends who have joined us for dinner have commented on the Metrokane - I think it may be on our Christmas list for a select few of our wine drinking colleagues.A genuinely unique and quite convenient way to keep white wine and some reds at a proper serving temperature.I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.

With patience I assembled the chiller. Actually "chiller" is a misnomer. If you pour a 50 degree 750 ml ( 24.5 oz) .bottle of wine into the decanter it really won't get cooler than 50 degrees for long. At this point only 6 inches of the ice tube is in contact with the wine. The other five inches do not touch the wine. When you get to 14 oz. only 1.5 inches touch the wine. At 9 oz. the wine is on it's own (and quickly warms).Suggestion: Put your white wine in the freezer or in an ice bucket until COLD then place in carafe.I also added water to about 90% of the tube and froze it. Worked better than ice cubes.In all fairness I love the basic design and the concept. Metrokane, if you tested this chiller did you not experience the same results?Would love to have a newer model after addressing the problem.

This is a clever product that does what it says. I purchased two and one had the "fit problem.". This is easily solved by manually spreading the metal piece and testing the fit gently before slamming in the ice holder. A bigger issue is that the ice holder doesn't reach the bottom of the flask, so that when you are on the bottom third of your wine it is no longer being well chilled. 3 stars as it s better and cooler that external chillers but needs design improvements.

I've had an earlier versions of this product. The carafe did a g r e a t job chilling wine, but I experienced usability problems. The older model had a screw-on ice chamber that was very difficult to seat properly, thus the carafe often leaked when pouring. Additionally, the glass vessel seems to have been thinner and easily broken. Both these issues were addressed in this redesign in addition to a new spout design. I am confident this will have no leaking problems. And I will be more careful of the glass vessel.
