Why did I receive a counterfeit?

Are you sure it's a counterfeit? There is not a lot of profit for counterfeiting or cloning a Crkt ceo.

Do you have to sign for the package?

I did not have to sign for the delivery of this knife. Unless your state has a law that would require signature I have no idea why you would have to sign.

Why does it take so long to ship?

My order arrived ahead of scheduled date.

Would the CEO be good for use as a paring knife?

I wouldn't recommend this knife for kitchen work, that's not the intended purpose. It could be used for paring or other simple tasks not requiring a heavier-duty blade if pressed, but good paring knives are fairly cheap and much more suited to the task.
