Bligh, dopo una navigazione perigliosa di oltre 4000 miglia,riuscì a raggiungere l'isola di Timor e da qui l' Inghilterra.Il Bounty fece ritorno a Tahiti dove parte dell'equipaggio sbarcò.Fece poi vela verso l'isola di Pitcairn sulla quale Fletcher e i rimanenti uomini si stabilirono.Solo 20 anni più tardi il gruppo sbarcato a Tahiti fu catturato e tradotto dinnanzi alla corte marziale inglese che condannò solo tre dei marinai prosciogliendo gli altri.
