Can a phone in an Otter box case fit into the side pocket?

The side pocket is 4 inches wide and 5.5 inches long.

Do these have any extra protection for the knees?

No but it's heavy-duty material. Some of the styles do.

The size chart shows petite as 34 inch inseam, with a regular inseam as 31 inches. I need petite, so which one is correct?

I bought the reg 10 and inseam is 31 inches. The are relax fit and very comfortable.

Do these shrink in length? They are the perfect length for me out of the package, but if they shrink they will be too short.

They didn't shrink. They still fit the same as when I took them out of the package.
