Nice valve
I installed it myself. After testing my soldering, the water flow was very slow on both hot, cold or both. It was like something was blocking the flow. I adjusted the hot water flow and that didn't make a difference. I removed the plastic valve body and didn't see anything blocking the ports (hot water in, cold water in, mixed water out). I rinsed out all the ports in the valve body in case something was stuck. I put the valve body back in and tested it again. The water flowed without problems. Valve closes water flow and doesn't leak. I don't have long term experience.

Nice valve
Choose this valve for a new installation and believe it was the right choice. Time will tell but nice features are shutoffs are installed in the valve body which would make it nice if the cartridge ever has to be replaced. Easy installation and performs as expected.

Good product with excellent setup and operational history
There are several different options that are available for this family of product. The one I ordered is the only one that appears to be assembled while the others appear to be a "bag of parts". Buyers, unfamiliar with the installation of this product should be aware that all versions are shipped loose and unassembled. Once you understand how it is installed, the fact that it is unassembled will make sense. Just a bit misrepresentative to the inexperienced. The available items also appear to have a series of them with a leading "P" in the part number which in undefined in the sellers literature and was not identified when I asked, so beware that there may be differences. Aside from this, I am happy with what I ordered and received.

Good value
Worked out well.

Nice to have built in shut off valves.
Installed several month ago and no problems. Thermostatic action works well to adjust water temperature.

BE AWARE - MISLEADING/INCORRECT MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS KOHLER 8304-K
BUYER TAKE NOTICE - INCORRECT HOLE SIZE SHOWN IN INSTRUCTIONS I purchased what I expected to be a quality product from a well-respected manufacturer - KOHLER but am sadly disappointed. This was intended to replace an old 2-handle shower faucet system on a fiberglass shower enclosure. The instructions show that in order to install the plastic template, the first step is to drill a 4" (102mm) hole in the wall. This hole supposedly allows enough spacing within a 4-1/2" radius to drill and install 4 screws through the wall and into the template. This is intended to hold the template and valve body tight and at the proper depth for later installation of handles and faceplates. As per instructions, I drilled a 4" hole, however when putting the template in place, the mounting holes fell well within the 4" diameter making it impossible to mount the template. Perhaps I misread the instructions but they are misleading at least if not completely incorrect. Kohler also promotes a video which I believe also mentions the 4" hole. Probably a 3-1/2" hole would work but I'm not sure that would provide enough space to install/remove the valve body in the future. I will probably resort to mounting the valve body to a 2x4 at the correct spacing. A simplified mounting system KOHLER should consider would utilize a mounting ring that could fit on the inside of the wall with a larger OD and 4 aligned holes for the screws that would hold the template in place if a larger hole is drilled. Off to a disappointing start - I'll post updates.

This is a wonderful replacement for taps that were not working well. Expensive but worth every penny.

There are some great videos on the Internet describing the step-by-step process for installing this valve and the instructions worked great! Not terribly complicated to install, in my opinion.

Well, our old bath taps let us take hot water straight from the HW tank at full tank temperature. We had the tank set to 49degsC, which gave a nice full bath of hot water. This new valve, even with the so called max temp stop removed and the knob turned fully clockwise is only letting water into the bath at 45degs, way to cold for a luxurious soak. After a few minutes I have to get out, the bath is too cold! I don't know if this is a faulty valve, or if that is a factory preset max, but since we haven't yet tiled the wall, out it comes and in the bin it goes! Grump! AVOID!!!
