Why does Control switch turns but water comes out both outlets

The control knob (in my experience) is far less than par. I like the unit, but I've gone thru 2 of them and in both the big blue control knob broke completely off. I with they'd improve the design or material for that singular piece.

Help! UV light holder has filled up with water and new lamp will not work...is it possible to purchase a replacement lamp holder?

what is the round glass plate for?

the glass plate goes between the drain port cap and gasket to act a a seal. If the cap was solid it would't be needed, but the cap allows for a drain hose instead.

are all pond and fish products designed to only last one year? bought this for my pond and 1 year later it no longer works. pump does not run.

We have had ours over a year. We cleaned it completely a few times to wash out the buildup and it works perfectly.
