Great reference for gardeners, farmers and DIY projects alike. Really handy for finding info on the vegetable you plan to sow or grow such as pests or recommended soils etc. A video I saw on Youtube of John Seymour makes you envious of the old way of life

Wonderfully written, great explanations with clear pictures. This book is much more than I was expecting and would have ever imagined it to be. It's like an encyclopedia of self efficiency. If you were to start your life from scratch with no electricity. This book is pretty much all you'll ever need as a guide, to create a comfortable and healthy life. Amazing! Just what I was looking for.

Everything you wish to know and even more. Very comprehensive. Great paper quality, nicely written, lots of high quality illustrations. Happy with the purchase. My recommendations.

I think everyone should have this book.

A great book with an intro into nearly every aspect of self sufficiency most people would be interested in. The topics are rarely delved into in great detail, due to the breadth of the subject matter, but an excellent resource as a broad strokes self sufficiency encyclopaedia. If you were to attempt many of the projects in here I would probably recommend going on to further research, but as an overview for planning purposes and for helping you appreciate the potential to become self sufficient it is excellent. In addition, it is written well, designed well, and produced in a sturdy and pleasing way. I would recommend it.

This is a Beautiful book by any standard. A high quality threadbound hardback with a lot of heft and a solid heavy look and feel. Beautifully laid-out out pages and full of nice drawings and sketches. The information inside is top notch! We got started with our vegetable garden this year after buying the book, and plan on taking our self-sufficiency up a level each year. This book will be our guide. I'm an electrician and a carpenter and a tiler and a few other things, incl. a lover of DIY. Soon to be, farmer/ self-supporter! This book is the one to buy!

My husband and I read this together over the course of almost a year, sitting at the breakfast bar and dreaming about our future self-sufficient life. We finished the final chapter just 2 weeks before moving onto a small piece of land in rural Italy, and I know I’ll be hearing John’s advice in my head as we take on every new challenge. What an inspiration and so necessary for our modern lives. I especially loved the practical advice and realistic approach - it’s certainly not a lecture on the ‘one way’ to do things, but shows how anyone can make small steps towards a more healthy, sustainable and fulfilling life, even if you live in a flat in the city. Just wonderful.

If you're a very first beginner this book does a good job at introducing you to self sufficiency. I found it very interesting, it has a bit of everything in it but of course it's not a complete enciclopedia, but it has good references to its sources too,.in case you want more details on specific topics. A good start.

This book is a great start to finish book that includes 'all' of the basics one needs to know to become self-relient. It's a must have book for all those who are serious about Self-sufficiency. Verry happy about this purchase
